Hei my dear friend,
I just have to say: Scandinavian weather is the ultimate drama queen. One week the sun refuses to go home and you’re wearing sunglasses at midnight. The next, it’s pitch black at breakfast and you’re wondering if you’ve accidentally joined a vampire cult 🧛♀️🤭
This upcoming Monday marks the autumn equinox: a turning point nature gives us to pause, reset, and prepare for what’s ahead. But that’s just the start.
Because this week? There’s «Sodd» simmering (I will explain soon), apples plotting their escape from the trees 🍎, a little golden flower that might just save your skin 🌼, and a bath recipe so cozy it should probably come with a warning 🛀🏻
Curious yet? Good. You’re about to get the full tour.
When the light disappears, bring out the soup 🍲
We Scandinavians have a very special relationship with weather and seasons. How could we not? Up here in Norway, the seasons are more than just a backdrop, they shape our whole way of living.
This Monday is the autumn equinox – when day and night are exactly the same length. In other words, summer has officially packed its bags, and autumn is moving in 🍁
Traditionally, this was the time to celebrate harvest, gather herbs, and share big meals with family.
For us, that meant «Sodd» on Sunday:
a classic Norwegian soup with meat, potatoes, and carrots. It’s our version of comfort food, and yes, it tastes even better when it’s your own potatoes and carrots from the kitchen garden in the pot 😋

Hugs in a jar: Gifts of gratitude
But the equinox is also a reminder to pause and say thank you 🙏
Thank you to nature for what it’s given us (and what it still has in store), and thank you to the people who make the darker days lighter. A few kind words or a small gesture can honestly flip someone’s whole week 💖
I feel so lucky to always have Frøya products on hand. They’re my little secret for giving gifts that truly touch the heart. These tiny jars are packed with potent love, where every jar feels like a small act of care, a little moment of luxury in a tiny, powerful package.
Whether it’s for a birthday, an anniversary, or just to show someone you’re thinking of them, giving Frøya products is like giving a hug in a jar - a gift that shows you care, down to the very last drop. I use to give a jar of balm to the ones around me in this darker times, to light up their day a little bit more 😉
The other day, a close friend opened up to me. She’d been feeling down because of some stubborn skin issues. Her hands were painfully dry & flaky, no matter what she tried. I surprised her with our Hyper Fast Eczema & Psoriasis Stopper Balm, and she was so relieved, so grateful. It reminded me how much small things can mean ❤️🩹
And then there’s my mom. My beautiful, selfless mom who always gives everything to everyone else, but never spends a second (or a cent) on herself. So I make sure her shelf is always stocked with The Complete System for Mature Skin. It’s my way of saying thank you and giving just a little bit back 🙌
Maybe you have someone in your life in need for some care too?
Hygge: Our Scandinavian Superpower
The contrast here is wild. Just a few weeks ago, the sun hardly set at all. Now, when I wake up in the morning, it’s pitch black outside. Where I live, the days are actually shrinking by about five minutes every single day. Before long, we’ll have more dark hours than light.
It’s no wonder winter depression is common here. The lack of sunlight really weighs on people. But over the centuries, we’ve developed rituals and traditions to cope with the dark season. And the best one of all? Hygge.

Hygge is basically the Scandinavian superpower: lighting a candle, pulling a blanket around your shoulders, pouring something warm in a mug, and just... exhaling. Bonus points if you’re doing it with people (or animals) you love. It’s simple, but it makes life so much softer when the sun disappears for half the year. It’s all about romanticizing your everyday life, appreciate the small wins and enjoying the simple things in life 😊

And honestly? Hygge is an absolute lifesaver this time of year. I think you should add a little hygge into your days too - it works wonders 🫶🏼
Autumn Days, Farm Ways 🍂
This week hasn’t been all cozy candles, though - we’ve also been hauling tons of topsoil around the farm. Real, heavy work, the kind that makes your muscles protest but your soul smile. King (our four-legged boss) supervised, naturally.

Hard work, sore muscles, and the golden autumn sun on our backs. Exhausting, yes, but in the best way.
And after that? More hygge. And sodd. Always sodd.
And our apples are also finally ready for harvest! Maybe I will share a family recipe with our farm apples or plums next week... A little clue: Something sweet is making its way from tree to treat... 🍏😉

Healing Flowers & Folklore
Speaking of harvest, I still have Calendula (ringblomst in Norwegian) blooming in my garden. This little golden flower has been treasured for centuries, as medicine, in food, in cosmetics. In medieval times, it was even considered a love charm. Girls would wear it to attract admirers (I can’t promise results, but you never know 😉).

Personally, I’m more impressed that during World War I, naturopaths discovered Calendula solution could heal wounds that were otherwise rotting. Not bad for a humble flower 😌
Here at Frøya, Calendula is used in most of our products:
🧡 Anti-Age & Insane Glow Day Balm
👁️ Ultra Potent Dark Circles & Eye Bag Remover
🌙 Magic Wrinkle Eraser Night Balm
💛 Instant Rosacea, Acne & Redness Stopper
🌟 Magic Revive & Glow Day Balm
💪 Joint & Muscle Healing Balm
💧 Hyper Potent Hair Growth Serum
Our Instant Rosacea, Acne & Redness Stopper has the highest dose of Calendula, but honestly, it’s so amazing that we sneak a little into nearly every product we create! 🏵️
And truly, nothing makes me happier than hearing from you, whether it’s an email in my inbox or a glowing review on our website. I’m still blown away every time I see your incredible skin transformations:

🧡 Calendula is soothing, antiseptic, and healing - a total gift for stressed, sensitive skin. Old folklore even says bathing in it will make people admire and respect you. Honestly? Worth a try. Worst case, you’ll just have really soft skin 😄
So, I made a simple little recipe for you: Calendula Bath Salt. You will find it in the very end of this letter! 👇

A quick but important note on skincare safety ⚠️
As the days grow darker, I’m reminded how much we depend on small, steady rituals to keep us well 💆♀️
And skincare is one of them. I mentioned this last week, but it’s worth saying again, because it really matters.
Because here’s the reality: in Europe, over 1700 cosmetic ingredients are banned. In Canada, about 500.
In the US? Fewer than 20 😱
That means the exact same cream can be «clean» here, but packed with extra chemicals across the ocean.
It’s one more reason I keep saying: what we put on our bodies matters just as much as what we put in them.
That’s why Frøya will always stick to pure, safe botanicals, resilient ingredients that nourish and protect, even through the longest, darkest season.
Before you go… A little hygge check-in 😉
So: autumn equinox, hygge, heavy lifting, healing flowers, and a dash of chemical reality check. That’s my week. And now, I hope you’ll take a little hygge with you into yours.
Because as the light fades, remember: nature always balances dark with light. With a little hygge, a few healing rituals, and some Arctic plant magic, our bodies and our skin can stay strong, soft, and glowing all winter long.
I’d love to hear what you think!
Did this email make you smile, spark a little hygge, or tempt you to try something new? Or maybe you have questions or ideas for me?
Your thoughts always make my day, and help me make Frøya even more magical for you 🌸💖
Sending you warmth (and maybe a little calendula luck)
Line 💚
The heart of Frøya 🌸
Recipe: Calendula Bath Salt 🛀🏻
Mini magic in a jar
Bring a little luxury to your bath!
This mini batch of Calendula bath salt is like a tiny jar of sunshine, perfect for soothing your skin and lifting your spirits.

Pick Calendula petals and dry them thoroughly: either air-dry for 1–2 weeks or use a dehydrator on low heat (I dried mine for 6 hours at 45 °C / 113 °F).
The petals should feel completely dry and crisp, not soft or sticky. If they’re still a bit soft, continue dehydrating and check every 30–60 minutes.
You’ll need:
7 tbsp sea salt or Epsom salt
4 tsp baking soda
1–2 tbsp dried calendula petals
Optional: 2–3 drops of your favorite essential oil
How to make it:
Mix the salt and baking soda in a bowl.
Gently fold in the dried calendula petals.
Add essential oil, if you like, and stir again.
Pop it into a jar with a lid - ready to gift, or keep all to yourself!
How to use:
Use 1–2 tbsp in a warm bath, or 1 tsp for a cozy foot soak. Close your eyes, breathe, and let the gentle magic of calendula work wonders 💆♀️
