What really happens behind Frøya’s doors (& why it works like magic)

Ever wondered how we actually make it all? Here’s the truth 👇

Hei, it’s Line here again 💛
I have to admit something:
I’m starting to understand why people sometimes think there’s a touch of witchcraft going on here at Frøya 😅
Sometimes I almost forget how unique what we’re doing actually is.
When visitors drop by the farm and see me tinkering with herbs, oils, and tiny test jars - or when people catch a glimpse of how our products are actually made - I always hear the same thing:
«I didn’t know skincare could still be made like this!»
And honestly, I understand why it’s surprising 👀

💛 The Team & Spirit 💛

This isn’t a one-woman show - it’s a passionate collective of people who truly care.
We’re a small but fierce super-team of people who share the same obsession: creating honest, effective skincare made with integrity 🌸💚

Together with co-founder Tobias, product manager Santiago, and our operations manager Tamara, we make sure every single Frøya product meets the highest possible standard - from formulation and testing to packaging and shipping.

And I can’t forget Delfi - the wonderful human making sure this very email finds its way to you! ✨

Each week, we brainstorm and create these Frøya letters together - little love notes meant to feel useful, uplifting, and sometimes just a bit funny 💌
Sometimes it’s a tip for your skin, sometimes a smile for your day, and sometimes a tiny nudge about an offer you’ll want to catch 😉
When you open a Frøya email, know that Delfi’s hand (and heart) is in it too!

And then there’s our Customer Care dream team 🌟 who spend every day helping, guiding and cheering you on.
Few things make me prouder than reading messages from people who say things like...
«Your balm saved my skin!» or «Your team was so kind and helpful».
Even when things don’t go perfectly - because let’s face it, no product works for absolutely everyone - we want every customer to feel seen, supported, and cared for ❤️🩹
That’s exactly why we have our 60-day money-back guarantee: so that whether Frøya + you are a match or not, you always feel looked after.
I can only mention a few here, but every person in our little Frøya family deserves a bow - it’s a genuine team effort in every sense.

Have an idea for a new product?
Or a wish for how we can improve?
Reply to this email - I read every single message and share your thoughts directly with the team 💬

Growing & Sourcing 🌍

In the early days, we harvested many of our ingredients ourselves - Calendula, Rosehip, Lavender - from small Nordic fields.
But once people started using our products, the word spread faster than we could have imagined. Frøya went from a local secret to a global whisper - and suddenly, we were constantly sold out (honestly… we still are, sometimes. But we’re getting better😅)
That’s when we realized we needed help - and we’re now lucky to work with wonderful partners who help us harvest herbs and berries across Northern Europe (and a few exotic regions for special ingredients). They share our philosophy of gentle harvesting, low-temperature drying, and zero pesticides 💚
That means we can preserve the same quality and potency as in the early days - just at a larger scale.
Once harvested, the raw materials go to our trusted production facilities in different regions. Why? Because each country has its own strict quality regulations, testing standards, and reporting requirements for cosmetics.
By working locally with certified labs and formulators, we can ensure every batch meets safety standards, while also reducing unnecessary transport and keeping our footprint small 😊
Here on the farm, I grow many of these same herbs and botanicals and use them in my everyday life of eating and taking care of my skin.

The farm works like a testing lab, and some of our product experiments start right here, in between muddy boots, dogs running wild, and the scent of dried calendula in the kitchen.

That connection to the land keeps us grounded - quite literally 🌿

Viking recipes
🧪 meets science 🧪

We like to call our process “Viking recipes meets science”:
Ancient Nordic herbal wisdom woven together with modern biochemistry. Most big brands - and even many that call themselves «natural» - heat their oils to extreme temperatures or add synthetic stabilizers to make production faster and cheaper. Much of the oils’ natural vitamins and active compounds are destroyed long before they ever reach your skin 😱
We don’t.
We work slowly, at low temperatures, in small batches.
Research shows that cold-pressed oils can retain up to 90 % of their vitamin E and omega fatty acids, while high heat can destroy more than half of them.
Our oils and extracts are blended at temperatures that never exceed 50°C (122°F) - to keep them alive and potent.
That’s why Frøya products feel alive on your skin - because they are.

Pure, cold-pressed, nutrient-dense oils.
No parabens. No fillers. No hormone-disrupting chemicals.
And maybe the most important part:
We make products that support women’s hormonal health instead of disrupting it.

LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR PRODUCTION PROCESS & HORMONE-SAFE FORMULAS

Studies show that women use around 9–15 cosmetic products daily, exposing them to over 150 different chemical ingredients, many of which are known hormone disruptors such as parabens and synthetic fragrances.
Most women experience some level of hormonal imbalance in their lifetime - from stress, sleep, or life stages - and many of these imbalances are made worse by what we put on our skin.

Why It Matters to Me 💫

That’s why it feels so right to work with people who truly take nature seriously - who let the oils, herbs and beeswax keep their natural power instead of boiling the life out of them.
For me, Frøya isn’t just skincare.
It’s a way of working, thinking, and living that actually makes sense.
It’s slowing down in a world that keeps speeding up.
It’s proof that you can create something powerful without cutting corners or compromising purity.
Every decision we make - from how we source to how we treat our customers - comes back to the same principle: respect.
For the land, for the ingredients, and for the women who trust us with their skin. That’s what gives this work meaning to me. It’s not about launching a hundred products.
It’s about creating a few things that truly work - and doing it with heart.
And maybe that’s why Frøya feels different.
Because it’s not just made to make you look good.
It’s made to help you feel at home in your own skin again.

A Little Farmside
🥾 Intermission 🥾

And speaking of oils… let’s talk about another kind of moisture care 😄
Rubber boots!
If you, like me, spend most of your days outdoors, here’s a little tip: rub your boots with olive oil a few times a year.Your rubber boots needs care too!🥾

👉 Wash the boots, apply a tiny bit of oil with a soft cloth, let it sit a few minutes, then buff lightly with a dry one.
Take care of your skin and your boots before winter - they’ll both thank you later 💛

Community, Color & Comfort Food

This week was peak Norwegian «dugnad» season - that magical time of year when everyone helps everyone, whether they actually have the time or not 😅
As I’m writing this, I have to laugh - because a lovely lady named Ruth wrote back to me after reading my letter last week, commenting that she gets exhausted reading about all my goings on! Well, hold on once again🤭
We helped my parents move (they decided they wanted «something quieter», which I think is code for «less snow to shovel»), hosted our two dogs Bamse and King so they wouldn’t turn the moving chaos into more chaos, and my husband volunteered to tear down a friend’s old cabin roof - because apparently «relaxing weekend» now means asbestos and power tools. But this is the kind of exhausting that still leaves you smiling.
The kind that makes the coffee taste better the next morning.
And since autumn has officially arrived here in Norway, I’m sharing one of my favorite cozy meals at the end of this letter: A warm roasted root-vegetable salad with a homemade balsamic glaze.Simple, nourishing, and pure comfort on a plate (ideally enjoyed in wool socks) 🧦✨

🎃 A little Halloween hint...

Something wickedly exciting is coming... 👀✨

On Halloween, I’m going live for a cozy little digital Frøya gathering - part magic, part mischief, and part FLASH SALE.

There’ll be treats (no tricks, promise): surprise gifts for everyone who joins, and the chance to win free skincare! 🥳
👀 Keep an eye on your inbox and our socials next week - this one’s going to be spook-tacularly good 🕯️🖤

Before You Go!

I hope you enjoyed this peek behind the scenes 💛
I’m endlessly proud of our team - and of you, our community, for every story, email, and kind word you share.
Do you have a product you dream we’d create?
Or a Frøya favorite you can’t live without?
👉 Hit reply and tell me - I’d love to hear from you.
And, as always - give me your little emoji rating before you go 👇

The heart of Frøya

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 2 sweet potatoes (about 500 g)
  • 2 beets (about 250 g)
  • 1 bag of kale (150–200 g)
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 red onion (optional – skip if you react strongly to onion like I do!)
  • 200 g feta cheese
  • 90–100 g cured ham (such as Stranda ham or prosciutto)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, pepper, and a drizzle of honey or balsamic glaze

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 210 °C / 410 °F.
  2. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes and beets. Place them on a baking tray, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Roast for about 25–30 minutes, until tender and caramelised on the edges.
  4. Rinse the kale and remove any tough stems. Massage with a little olive oil until glossy and soft.
  5. Slice the green apple thinly, and the red onion if using.
  6. Combine roasted veggies, kale, apple (and onion), and crumbled feta in a large bowl.
  7. Top with the ham, and drizzle with honey or balsamic glaze before serving.

👉 Serve warm, ideally with wool socks and a good candle nearby 🕯️

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 200 ml real balsamic vinegar (preferably Modena IGP, 6 % acidity)
  • 1 tbsp honey or pure maple syrup (or 1 tbsp coconut sugar or raw cane sugar for a deeper taste)

Directions

1. Pour the balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan.
2. Add the honey and warm gently over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
3. Once it begins to simmer, reduce the heat and let it gently bubble for 12–18 minutes, until reduced by about half.
4. When it coats the back of a spoon and leaves a line when you swipe your finger through, it’s done.
5. Cool, pour into a small jar, and store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

👉 Use it as a drizzle of pure, natural luxury✨
